“Being active has never been so creative and fun”

About GoFit4Fun

  • GoFit4Fun CIC is a Community Interest Company – In other words, a social enterprise founded in 2018
  • Our Mission is to bring people and communities together to be creative, active, healthy and happy
  • GoFit4Fun has developed its own ecosystem
  • We are conducting a pilot programmewithin schools in the Sheffield City Region during 2019
  • This programme is the first stage in our journey, but in future GoFit4Fun aims to roll out the programme nationally!

How It Works

The Programme

We are GoFit4Fun and we are excited to test our new programme in Sheffield!!! With us you are going to be able to imagine your game, create it, play it, and be active. For us, the best way to be active and have fun is not always through playing structured sports, but games! There are loads of games that already exist but why not create the ones of your dreams?

We want you to meet other people
We want you to make new friends
We want you to use your imagination
We want you to make your imagination go wild
We want you to create your own ideas
We want you to present your ideas
We want you to have fun !

Information for Parents & Schools

Safeguarding and child protection statement

We at GoFit4Fun have a clear set of guidelines about how we keep children safe and respond to child protection concerns. Here is a link (LINK COMING SOON) to a more detailed set of policies and procedures which explain the steps we take within our organisation to keep children safe. All members of the Gofit4Fun team are DBS checked and are in compliance with all statutory regulations.

Data Protection
During the programme, data is captured on our GoFit4Fun device. This data is essential for the delivery of the service as it contains measurements of the movement of a participant. The data is stored on the device but will be uploaded to a secure web platform owned by GoFit4Fun, after which it will be wiped from the device. The data stored on our secure web platform is private and anonymised in a way that it cannot be traced to any individual child, apart from the GoFit4Fun team. It will not be shared, sold or otherwise communicated with any third parties without explicit prior consent.
Credentials / Experience
All members of the Gofit4Fun team have considerable experience working with young people, either as a researcher, a community practitioner, or teacher.

We have an extended network due to the considerable experience of promoting physical activity in the Sheffield City Region. The tight link we have with Sheffield Hallam University and more especially among Sheffield volunteering and the Physical Activity Sports and Health department allows us to identify students and volunteers to recruit to deliver our programme.

Risk Statement
The safety of children is of paramount importance to GoFit4Fun. Our health coaches supervise and monitor all activities done by participants and actively facilitate the creation process to ensure the games created are safe and risks of injury are minimised. That said, all physical activity carries an element of risk of tripping or falling. Parents or carers of all participants must inform GoFit4Fun of any underlying medical conditions and sign a full risk disclosure document in advance of enrolment.
Our Board

We are excited at the prospect of taking these experiences further, establishing GoFit4Fun as a social venture that creates useful products and services that have lasting health benefits. We are:

Dr Remi Bec moved from Lyon (France) to exotic Sheffield (UK) more than 10 years ago to work as a product designer in Health, and explored the use of play to promote physical activity and fight obesity for more than 10 years. As the CEO and founder of GoFit4Fun, Remi is in charge of the products and business development, community engagement, marketing and communication, and finance management.

Judy Stevenson is a previous Principal Lecturer within the Academy of Sport & Physical Activity Sheffield Hallam University. She currently works as a physical activity consultant and supports research and evaluation of physical activity programmes. Her passion and enhanced experience in delivering, developing and strategically planning physical activity in the community is valuable to enable GoFit4Fun to tailor the activities to be inclusive and equitable.

Craig Haslingden has a passion and enthusiasm to promote physical activity at all levels. After many years as a teacher of physical education and school leader Craig joined Sheffield Hallam University as a lecturer of sport, physical education and health. Craig is currently involved in a number of research projects that include addressing low activity levels amongst pupils in deprived areas.
